As of October 2026, we rank production scheduling software by scoring each product from 0 to 5 on fixed, weighted criteria for each buyer segment, using only evidence published on the vendor’s own website. The weights add up to 100 for every list. A vendor moves up or down only when a verified fact changes its score.
What we score
Our database covers 25 production scheduling products as of October 2026: dedicated APS tools, ERP and MRP systems with a scheduler, planning platforms and MES. Each product is scored only on the lists where it competes. The scoring sheet holds 384 scores, each with a rationale, a source URL and a verification date. We publish 9 ranked lists. The small manufacturers list and the job shops list share one set of criteria.
The scoring scale
| Score | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 0 | Not stated on the vendor site. Missing evidence scores 0, never an estimate. |
| 1 | Mentioned only indirectly, or only as a manual workaround. |
| 3 | Stated by the vendor, with partial detail or limits. |
| 5 | Stated and documented in full on the vendor site. |
In-between scores are used when the evidence sits between two anchors, and the rationale says why. A weighted total multiplies each score by its criterion weight, divides by 5 and adds the results. The maximum total is 100.
Criteria and weights per segment
Weights are fixed per segment before scoring. The criteria differ because a small job shop and a multi-plant group need different things.

Evidence rules
- Vendor sites first. Prices, trials and features come from pages the vendor owns: pricing pages, product pages, documentation.
- Search snippets are marked. When a page blocks reading and only a search snippet of the vendor page is available, the fact is labelled as a snippet.
- No hidden prices. If a vendor does not publish a price, we show “quote” and never estimate one.
- Unknown is stated. A fact the vendor does not publish is shown as not stated, with the date we checked.
- Review sites are context, not score. Ratings from review sites do not enter the weighted total.
Re-verification every 90 days
Every page shows the date its facts were last verified and the date of the next check. That next check is set 90 days after verification. On each check we open every cited source again and confirm that each number and yes or no field still matches. If a source cannot be reached, the field is shown as unverified since the last good date rather than given a fresh date. A vendor price or trial change triggers an update before the scheduled check.
Change log rule
Every change to a price, trial, score or weight is recorded as a dated line in the change log of the page it affects. A weight change is logged here and all lists are re-scored the same day. If a re-score changes the order of a list, the list changes, whichever vendor moves. For each list we also test whether one verified fact could change the top three, and we record the result with the scores.
Frequently asked questions
How are the rankings calculated?
Each product gets a score from 0 to 5 per criterion. The score is multiplied by the criterion weight and divided by 5. The results add up to a total with a maximum of 100.
What happens if a feature is not on the vendor website?
It scores 0 for that criterion until the vendor publishes it. Vendors can send a link to the page that states it, and we re-score after checking.
Can a vendor pay to rank higher?
No. Rank follows the weighted total only, and the total changes only when a verified fact changes.
How often are rankings updated?
Facts are re-verified at least every 90 days, and earlier when a vendor changes a price or trial.
