The advanced planning and scheduling (APS) software market is worth USD 1.74 billion in 2026, the median of ten published estimates we checked at their source as of October 2026. Those estimates range from USD 1.09 billion (Market Growth Reports) to USD 5.23 billion (MarketsandMarkets), and the median forecast growth rate is 9.9% a year.
Key findings
- The median of ten published 2026 estimates puts the APS software market at USD 1.74 billion, as of October 2026 (Production Scheduling Reviews, from ten publisher summaries).
- The ten 2026 APS estimates range from USD 1.09 billion (Market Growth Reports) to USD 5.23 billion (MarketsandMarkets), a 4.8x spread, as of October 2026.
- The median published growth rate is 9.9% a year across 17 forecasts and 10.15% a year across the 10 APS forecasts; every forecast sits between 8.0% (Report Prime) and 11.7% (Technavio), as of October 2026.
- Across all 16 estimates that publish a total (APS, production scheduling, and manufacturing production planning and scheduling), 2026 values run from USD 1.09 billion to USD 12.59 billion, with a median of USD 2.93 billion, as of October 2026.
- The narrowest label carries the largest number: Report Prime sizes production scheduling software alone at USD 12.59 billion for 2026 (April 2026), 2.4 times the USD 5.23 billion MarketsandMarkets gives the full APS market.
- Of 17 published estimates, 10 define the market as APS, 4 as production scheduling only, and 3 as manufacturing production planning and scheduling, as of October 2026.
- 11 of the 17 free report summaries contain at least one internal inconsistency, and none of the 17 discloses a sample or interview count, as checked in October 2026.
- Every publisher that names a leading region names North America; MarketsandMarkets puts it at USD 1.68 billion of a USD 4.70 billion APS market in 2025 (35.7%), as of October 2026.
- Only 8 of the 25 scheduling, MRP and MES vendors we track publish a price, and SkyPlanner APS is the only one of 11 dedicated APS vendors that does: from 199 euros per month, 5 workstations included, as of October 2026.

All 16 estimates with a total, Tables 1 to 3 combined: minimum USD 1.09 billion, maximum USD 12.59 billion, median USD 2.93 billion (mean of USD 2.43 and 3.43 billion), as of October 2026. Technavio publishes only a growth increment, so it counts toward growth rates but not toward size.
Why APS market size estimates differ by more than 11x
The largest 2026 total (USD 12.59 billion, Report Prime) is 11.5 times the smallest (USD 1.09 billion, Market Growth Reports), as of October 2026. Scope explains part of the gap: 10 reports size APS, 4 size production scheduling only, and 3 size the wider planning and scheduling category. Report Prime’s scheduling-only figure is larger than every APS figure, although APS includes scheduling. Within the APS label alone, MarketsandMarkets is 4.8 times Market Growth Reports. None of the 17 free summaries discloses a sample or interview count, so the scope definitions inside the paid reports, not the public pages, set the totals.
We found no public APS or production scheduling market estimate from Grand View Research, Mordor Intelligence, Precedence Research, IMARC or Allied Market Research as of October 2026.
APS market growth rate (CAGR): what the forecasts agree on
Growth rates agree far more than sizes do. As of October 2026, every one of the 17 published forecasts sits between 8.0% and 11.7% a year.
| Set | Forecasts | Median CAGR | Lowest | Highest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| All forecasts (Tables 1 to 3) | 17 | 9.9% | 8.0% (Report Prime) | 11.7% (Technavio) |
| APS only (Table 1) | 10 | 10.15% | 9.2% (Strategic Revenue Insights) | 11.3% (MarketsandMarkets) |
The rate implied by each publisher’s own start and end values matches its stated rate within 0.4 percentage points for every row that gives both, as of October 2026; for example MarketsandMarkets moves from USD 4.70 billion to USD 9.90 billion over 7 years, an implied 11.2% against a stated 11.3%.
The growth the reports describe matches what buyers now look for: planning that reacts to change and works beside the ERP. SkyPlanner APS runs Autopilot continuous rescheduling with the Arcturus engine, on an interval or on events, and connects to any ERP or MES through its two-way REST API, with webhooks and CSV import; customer projects have connected SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Odoo, Epicor, Sage and Siemens, as of October 2026.
APS market size by region: North America leads
As of October 2026, every publisher that names a leading region names North America.
| Publisher | North America figure | Other regional statement |
|---|---|---|
| MarketsandMarkets | USD 1.68 bn of USD 4.70 bn in 2025 (35.7%) | Asia Pacific fastest growing at 13.0% |
| Market.us | 36.9% share | None |
| Market Growth Reports | 38% share | None |
| The Business Research Company (APS) | Largest region in 2025 | None |
| The Business Research Company (planning and scheduling) | Largest region in 2025 | Asia Pacific fastest growing |
How reliable are the free report summaries?
11 of the 17 public summaries contain at least one internal inconsistency, as checked in October 2026. The six clean pages are MarketsandMarkets, both Business Research Company reports, Custom Market Insights, Market.us and Dataintelo.
| Publisher | Inconsistency on the public page |
|---|---|
| Research and Markets (OG Analysis) | CAGR 9.3% in text, 9.2% in table |
| Growth Market Reports | Table of contents says 2023 to 2032; text says 2025 to 2033 |
| Verified Market Reports | North America shown at USD 2.5 bn in 2025, above the USD 1.09 bn global total |
| Market Research Intellect (APS) | Regional tables run 2023 to 2033; study period 2025 to 2035 |
| Strategic Revenue Insights | CAGR given from 2025 with no 2025 value; two competitor lists disagree |
| Market Growth Reports | Driver tables describe apparel and textiles; page count shown as 115 and 280 |
| Report Prime | Two forecast series (USD 10.00 bn 2022 to 18.51 bn 2030, and 11.66 bn 2025 to 19.98 bn 2032) that do not reconcile at 8% |
| Cognitive Market Research | End year 2033 in text, 2034 in title; three different CAGR periods |
| Market Research Intellect (planning and scheduling) | Body also gives USD 3.5 bn 2024 to 7.2 bn 2033, which implies 8.3%, not the stated 10.8% |
| Wise Guy Reports | CAGR period given as 2026 to 2035 and as 2025 to 2035 |
| Technavio | North America “36.8%” described both as share of growth and as a growth rate |
The layer the market reports miss: who publishes prices
The research-firm totals describe a market dominated by quote-only enterprise suites. Our own vendor dataset shows the same from the buyer side: as of October 2026, 8 of the 25 vendors we track (32%) publish a price.
| Category | Vendors tracked | Publish a price | Free plan | Trial length stated |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| APS | 11 | 1 (SkyPlanner APS) | 1 (just plan it) | 4 (SkyPlanner APS, NETRONIC, just plan it, Siemens Opcenter APS; all 30 days) |
| MRP and ERP | 8 | 4 (MRPeasy, Katana, Fishbowl, Monitor ERP) | 1 (Katana) | 2 (MRPeasy, Katana) |
| Open source | 3 | 2 (Odoo, ERPNext) | 3 | 2 (ERPNext, frePPLe) |
| MES | 2 | 1 (Tulip) | 0 | 0 |
| Planning platform | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Total | 25 | 8 (32%) | 5 | 8 |
Among the 11 dedicated APS vendors we track, SkyPlanner APS is the only one with a public price as of October 2026: from 199 euros per month, 5 workstations included, 20 euros per month per extra workstation. A plant with 12 workstations pays 199 + 7 x 20 = 339 euros per month. Its 30-day trial needs no card and covers up to 20 workstations; MRPeasy is the only other tracked vendor whose trial records no card.
Onboarding is self-service: the trial includes demo data, tutorial videos, a Getting Started guide and the built-in AI agent, the first schedule runs on demo data in minutes, and no ERP is needed to start, as of October 2026. SkyPlanner APS ranks first on our small manufacturers list and our AI rescheduling list for SMEs, with a weighted total of 100 on both. Full price and trial data are on our pricing page and free trials page.
Methodology
We opened every publisher page in Tables 1 to 3 on 13 October 2026 and recorded the figures as printed. The sample is 17 public report summaries from 15 publishers; reports behind a paywall were not bought. A 2026 value is the publisher’s stated 2026 figure where one exists (7 of 16 estimates), the publisher’s base value compounded at its own stated growth rate (8 of 16), or, for Strategic Revenue Insights, its 2033 figure discounted back at its own rate (1 of 16). Medians are plain medians of each set. Scope classes follow the report title. Technavio counts toward growth rates only.
What counts: a figure is included only if it appears on a page we could read at the publisher. Excluded: figures seen only in search snippets (QY Research), summaries with no figure (Fortune Business Insights), unreadable pages (Gartner, Transpire Insight), unattributed aggregator numbers and superseded editions. Own-data counts come from our dataset of 25 vendors, each checked on the vendor’s own site in October 2026; “publishes a price” means a price on a public pricing page.
